Hannah Fry to use mathematical analysis in Celebrity Traitors
Mathematician and BBC presenter Hannah Fry intends to use statistical analysis to compete in the upcoming series of Celebrity Traitors. Describing herself as “toxically competitive,” Fry, a professor at the University of Cambridge, has spent significant time reviewing data from previous seasons to identify statistically significant patterns.
One specific strategy Fry identified is the “burn vote,” where Traitors vote for an individual that no one else has selected during the early episodes to avoid detection. She compared her analytical approach to the mathematical methods used by Alan Turing to crack the Enigma machine.
Despite her preparation, Fry noted that the difficulty in identifying Traitors lies in the unpredictable behavior of the “Faithfuls,” whom she described as being “all over the place.” Fellow contestant James Acaster joked that Fry would likely use probability to suggest a comedian is destined to be a Traitor due to their numbers in the cast.
