Hannah Pingree returns campaign donations from former Epstein attorney

The gubernatorial campaign of Democratic nominee Hannah Pingree has refunded $300 in donations from Paul Hoffman, a resident of the U.S. Virgin Islands who previously served as an attorney for Jeffrey Epstein in business matters.

Hoffman made three $100 contributions to the campaign between May and June. Pingree’s campaign spokesperson, Mary-Erin Casale, stated that the funds were immediately returned once Hoffman’s background and contributions were brought to their attention.

While Hoffman has not been accused of criminal wrongdoing regarding his past work with Epstein, the donations have drawn scrutiny. Hoffman has also previously donated to U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree and U.S. Sen. Angus King.
