Hannah Yeoh denies signing fake house arrest order for Najib Razak

Hannah Yeoh, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories), has denied signing a house arrest order for former Prime Minister Najib Razak that has been circulating on social media. She stated that the document is fake and urged the public not to spread it, noting that her press secretary has filed a police report regarding its dissemination.

Yeoh clarified that the Pardon Board has not yet convened to discuss the matter. She addressed previous discussions regarding the postponement of Najib's pardon application on September 11, stating that her views provided during that meeting were given honestly and based on the written opinion of the Attorney General.

She emphasized that, in accordance with Article 42 of the Federal Constitution, the final authority and decision regarding pardons rest with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. This follows comments from Law and Institutional Reform Minister Azalina Othman Said, who clarified that her department serves only as the secretariat for the Pardon Board.
