Hannover 96 condemns fan misconduct and discrimination
Hannover 96 has issued a public condemnation of its own supporters following a DFB-Pokal match against SV Hemelingen. Despite a 9-1 victory, the club reported that some fans engaged in homophobic and discriminatory behavior, including insults and threats directed at participants of the Christopher Street Day event taking place in Bremen.
In addition to the verbal abuse, the club expressed regret over property damage caused by approximately 7,000 traveling fans at the Weserstadion. Reports indicated that sanitary facilities, including toilets, sinks, and mirrors in the guest area, were destroyed. Hannover 96 stated they are in communication with SV Hemelingen regarding the damages.
