Hannover court begins trial for mass sexual assault and filming

A trial has commenced at the Hannover Regional Court involving a 39-year-old Polish man accused of sedating, raping, and filming his partner in Ronnenberg, near Hannover. The prosecution alleges that between November 2021 and March 2026, the defendant administered sleeping pills or ketamine to his partner to render her unconscious before committing sexual acts.

According to the indictment, the defendant recorded the assaults, creating numerous videos that were allegedly shared in chat groups and uploaded to the internet. The prosecution detailed 103 specific instances of abuse during the opening of the proceedings. The defendant has chosen to exercise his right to remain silent, as confirmed by his defense attorney, Marcin Raminski.

The case has drawn comparisons to the Gisèle Pelicot abuse scandal in France, with investigators noting that revelations from that case and subsequent research helped bring this matter to light.
