Hannover hosts 2026 Finals, Germany’s biggest multi‑sport event
From 23 to 26 July 2026 Hannover will stage the “Finals”, Germany’s largest multi‑sport championship featuring 24 disciplines and 143 national titles. Around 4 000 athletes will compete for titles in sports ranging from rugby and break‑dance to archery and triathlon.
The city opened the event with a spectacular ceremony on 23 July at the Maschsee, combining the Finals launch with the traditional Maschseefest. A floating stage, fireworks and performances by local bands were followed by the official start signal from the mayor, the state sport minister and event organizers.
Parallel competitions are taking place at the Steinhuder Meer, where triathlon, sailing, coastal rowing and other water sports are held on a dedicated lake venue. Live streams and large LED screens allow spectators to follow the action throughout the four‑day programme.
