Hannover hosts Die Finals 2026 multi‑sport championship

From July 23‑26 2026 the city of Hannover staged the Die Finals, a national multi‑sport championship covering 24 disciplines. The event featured 3×3 basketball, beach‑volleyball (including a new 4‑vs‑4 Golden Set format), 7‑a‑side rugby, swimming, rowing, triathlon, breaking, flag football and many others. Notable performances included the Baskets Bonn winning the men’s 3×3 title, SC Germania List securing both men’s and women’s rugby 7s championships, Eintracht Sponten claiming the beach‑volleyball titles after dramatic Golden Sets, and Lukas Märtens becoming German freestyle swimming champion. Over 6 000 spectators attended the beach‑volleyball finals and the venue capacity was regularly sold out.

The championships were broadcast live on ARD and ZDF, alternating TV slots and streaming via Joyn. Viewership peaked at 1.21 million for the climbing finals, with overall audience share reaching up to 11 percent among viewers aged 14‑49. The schedule and live‑stream information were made available on the ZDF‑Sportschau portal, covering all sports and their broadcast times.

The Die Finals served as a showcase for athletes aiming for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, with stars such as 3×3 player Fabian Giessmann highlighting the event’s role in Olympic preparation.
