Hannover redevelopment: Oliver Blume to transform Horten building

Entrepreneur Oliver Blume has acquired the former Horten building in downtown Hannover, a 50,000-square-meter property located between the Old Town and Kröpcke. Blume plans to undergo a major renovation of the site, which will be rebranded as ‘The Box’ by the end of 2027. The project aims to create a mixed-use space incorporating education, retail, gastronomy, and residential units.

During the extensive reconstruction period, Blume is providing the large window surfaces of the vacant building to the Hannover Marketing und Tourismus GmbH (HMTG) free of charge for at least one year. These spaces will serve as a showcase for the ‘Unboxing Hannover’ campaign, designed to highlight the city’s various facets and engage both locals and tourists while the building is under development.
