Vietnam 2026 High School Exam: Top Scorers and Point Cutoffs

Vietnam’s 2026 high‑school admission examinations produced several record‑breaking results. Nguyen Hải Nam topped the mathematics competition at the specialized teaching university high school with a total of 27.5 points, qualifying for a scholarship. In Hanoi, Trần Minh Hà achieved the highest overall score of 29.75 points (10 in English, 9.5 in Mathematics, 9.25 in Literature plus a priority point) and secured admission to THPT Phan Đình Phùng. In Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyễn Đăng Phúc became the city’s top scorer with 28.75 points, earning perfect scores in Mathematics and English.

The Ministry of Education and Training released the official answer key and a new rubric for the contentious literature question about creating “Steve Jobs Vietnam,” detailing scoring criteria for content, analysis, and presentation. Admission procedures were outlined: students must confirm enrolment online or in person between 13:30 03‑27 June, with strict deadlines for document submission.

Point‑cutoff tables for Hanoi’s public schools showed a wide spread—from 26 points at the top schools to a low of 8.5 points at Minh Châu—an 17.5‑point gap. Many schools raised their thresholds, some by as much as 8.5 points. Ho Chi Minh City delayed publishing the general‑track cutoffs until after specialist‑track admissions were confirmed, citing the need to avoid “ghost” admissions.

Private schools in Hanoi also announced cutoffs comparable to leading public institutions, while emotional‑support articles reminded students who missed their target schools that additional pathways remain.
