Hanoi Administrative Service Center Issues Alert on Pension Fraud Scams

The Hanoi Administrative Service Center (Trung tâm Phục vụ hành chính công Thành phố Hà Nội) has warned that fraudsters are impersonating its staff to target pensioners and social‑insurance beneficiaries. Scammers call individuals, claim a new requirement to supplement pension documents under the 2024 Social Insurance Law, and pressure them to install apps, provide OTP codes, ID numbers or bank details. One victim described the call as saying, “If you do not complete the paperwork today, your rights will be affected.”

The center clarified that only people listed in the official support plan are contacted, that no mass‑calling campaign is conducted, and that genuine officials never request app installations, OTPs, passwords, or bank information. Victims are urged to verify any such request by contacting the center directly, as the scheme exploits a high‑point verification period coordinated with the Hanoi Social Insurance Agency and local authorities.
