Hanoi apartment integrates Dong Ho folk art into modern design

A 130m² apartment in the Cau Giay district of Hanoi has been designed to integrate traditional Vietnamese cultural values into a contemporary living space. Completed in 2026, the residence utilizes modern furniture alongside materials and motifs inspired by Vietnamese heritage.

The design features warm brown wood, woven rattan, and handmade ceramic tiles. The color palette draws from traditional architecture, incorporating vermilion red, earthy brown, and deep green. A central decorative element is the ‘Rat’s Wedding’ Dong Ho folk painting, prominently displayed in the foyer and kitchen areas.

To promote a sense of togetherness, approximately half of the apartment is dedicated to an open-concept layout connecting the living room, dining area, and kitchen. Custom furniture pieces incorporate traditional imagery such as bamboo stalks, fish, and lotus flowers, blending artisanal craftsmanship with modern functional needs.
