Hanoi approves redevelopment of four old apartment complexes
Hanoi has approved a list of projects to renovate and rebuild four old collective apartment complexes between 2026 and 2030. These projects aim to replace deteriorating structures with modern high-rise buildings.
The approved sites include the three-story complex on Le Hong Phong street, the 23 Hang Tre - 162 Tran Quang Khai complex, the 15C Tran Khanh Du complex, and the Truong Dinh complex. Many of these buildings have been in use for nearly 40 years and have suffered significant degradation. Inspections by the Department of Construction indicated that some structural components no longer meet load-bearing requirements, posing safety risks. Long-term unauthorized expansions, such as ‘tiger cage’ balcony enclosures, have further compromised structural integrity and urban aesthetics.
For the 23 Hang Tre - 162 Tran Quang Khai site, the redevelopment plan involves constructing a 7-story outer block and a 21-story inner block with three basement levels, with an estimated investment of approximately 398 billion VND. Similarly, the 15C Tran Khanh Du site is slated for a new development featuring an 8-story outer block and a 21-story inner block with four basement levels, with an estimated investment exceeding 376 billion VND.
