Hanoi authorities process 188 smuggling and trade fraud cases

Hanoi authorities reported significant enforcement actions against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods during September 2026. According to the Hanoi Steering Committee 389, the Hanoi City Police identified 266 violations in these sectors.

Of these, 188 cases were processed. This included 12 cases with signs of criminal activity, resulting in the prosecution of 35 defendants. Administrative penalties totaled 2.181 billion VND, while the value of the violated goods was determined to be 1.901 billion VND.

Law enforcement officials noted that as the year-end approaches and consumer demand increases, the risk of illegal and counterfeit goods entering the market rises. Authorities are focusing on identifying new methods used by violators to protect consumer rights and ensure market quality.
