Hanoi authorities require Grab, Be, and Xanh SM to report vehicle data
The Hanoi Department of Construction has requested ride-hailing platforms, including Grab Vietnam, Be Group, and Xanh SM, to provide detailed data regarding their active vehicle fleets and transport units operating within the capital. This directive follows guidance from the Vietnam Road Administration to better understand the scale and status of technology-based transportation services.
Companies are required to submit reports including the names of transport units, the actual number of vehicles operating through their applications, and other relevant notes. Other transport businesses using technology, such as websites or self-developed software, must also disclose their platforms. This data collection aims to enhance state management and oversight of the technology-driven transport sector.
Beyond administrative oversight, the move highlights the need for social security policies for the growing workforce of technology drivers. Currently, a significant portion of the approximately 200,000 ride-hailing drivers in Vietnam lacks formal labor contracts and social insurance coverage.
Separately, the Ministry of Construction has issued instructions to accelerate public investment disbursement, ordering local departments and project management boards to expedite inspection and payment procedures for completed infrastructure projects to meet 2026 targets.
