Hanoi begins site preparation for 960 billion VND underpass project
Hanoi authorities have begun relocating and pruning dozens of trees along the Me Tri - Duong Dinh Nghe - Ring Road 3 intersection to prepare for a major underpass construction project. The initiative aims to clear the site for a project valued at over 960 billion VND.
The underpass is designed to feature six lanes with a total length of approximately 655 meters. It will include 120 meters of enclosed tunnel, 200 meters of open tunnel, and 335 meters of retaining walls. The structure will connect Me Tri and Duong Dinh Nghe streets by passing beneath Pham Hung Street and the Ring Road 3 elevated highway.
Managed by the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. Once finished, it is intended to significantly reduce traffic congestion at this key intersection in the western part of the capital.
