Hanoi elderly man shares perspective on day-care nursing homes

Nguyen Xuan Tinh, a 94-year-old former lecturer from Hanoi, has adopted a modern approach to aging by participating in a day-care nursing home model. For the past year, he has spent his mornings at the Phuong Dong Asahi Resort and Nursing Home to socialize with peers and receive specialized care, before returning home every afternoon to be with his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Tinh, who taught at the Vietnam National University of Agriculture for 40 years, decided on this arrangement through open discussion with his three children. He noted that while his children are professionals who cannot provide around-the-clock care, the day-care model allows him to maintain his social health and physical well-being while preserving family connections.
