Hanoi establishes support mechanism for cultural and historical preservation

Hanoi has issued a new mechanism to support the protection and promotion of cultural and historical areas, as well as valuable architectural works. Signed by Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha, the decision provides guidance for implementing Resolution No. 30/2026/NQ-HĐND.

Support is determined based on criteria including historical, cultural, architectural, artistic, and scientific value, as well as the potential for tourism and creative economy development. To qualify, sites must be included in an officially approved list and demonstrate an urgent need for renovation or restoration. Proponents must present feasible protection plans and management solutions. For non-state owned properties, owners must provide written consent and commit to maintaining investment results. The regulations also stipulate that properties must be free of legal disputes or construction violations. This decision takes effect on August 31, 2026.
