Hanoi faces resettlement and livelihood challenges

Hanoi is facing significant challenges in managing resettlement for residents displaced by major infrastructure projects, such as the Tran Hung Dao Bridge project. While land has been allocated in areas like Thu Lam commune, residents report difficulties in building new homes and maintaining their livelihoods. Some displaced individuals have noted that rental subsidies are insufficient to cover actual market costs in the city.

In the Cau Giay district, the N01 resettlement housing project has faced long-term delays, having been under development since 2011. Although the project has recently reached near-completion with approximately 50 households moving in, the slow progress highlights the need for better planning to ensure that resettlement sites include adequate infrastructure and long-term economic opportunities for displaced citizens.
