Hanoi increases parking fees for cars in central urban areas
Starting October 15, 2026, Hanoi will implement a new parking fee schedule for locations utilizing state-funded roads and sidewalks, according to Decision 5794/QD-UBND.
In core urban areas such as Tran Hung Dao, Ly Thuong Kiet, Hai Ba Trung, and Dinh Le, monthly overnight parking fees for cars with up to nine seats will rise from 4 million VND to 6 million VND, totaling 72 million VND per year. Hourly rates are also set to increase from 30,000 VND to 50,000 VND per 60 minutes.
Experts, including Dr. Dinh Thi Thanh Binh from the University of Transport and Communications, suggest these increases serve as an economic tool to manage demand for private vehicle travel in central districts. The policy aims to encourage changes in transportation behavior and address the efficient use of urban space.
