Hanoi infrastructure project to connect city center with massive new stadium

A major infrastructure project in Hanoi, known as the National Highway 1A space axis, is set to connect the city center to large development areas in the south. The 36.3 km project has a total investment of approximately 162 trillion VND (about 6 billion USD) and is scheduled for completion in 2027, with construction beginning in May 2026.

The road will feature a cross-section width of up to 90 meters, including 10 main lanes and two sets of three-lane collector roads, with a design speed of 80 km/h. It will pass through 18 wards and communes, connecting Ring Road 1 to the Cau Gie intersection.

The project is expected to enhance connectivity to several major urban areas, including Ocean Park, Sun Urban City, and a project by the Trump Organization. Notably, it will provide direct access to the Hanoi International Sports Urban Area, a large-scale sports project developed by Vingroup. This area will feature the VinFast - Trong Dong Stadium, which is designed to be the world's largest stadium with a capacity of 135,000 seats, utilizing automated roofing and green technology.
