Hanoi integrates sustainable development with economic growth

Hanoi authorities have issued new directives to tighten sustainable development goals, aiming to integrate economic growth with environmental protection. Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, Do Anh Tuan, signed official dispatch No. 4649/UBND-KT to improve sustainable development indices for 2026.

The city requires all departments and agencies to review their specific sustainable development targets and evaluate their ability to meet goals by 2030. These objectives must be fully integrated into sectoral strategies, urban planning, and annual or five-year socio-economic development plans. This approach seeks to link economic expansion with cultural development, social security, resource efficiency, climate change adaptation, and improved quality of life.

Hanoi also emphasizes the need to mobilize resources through public-private partnerships and socialized investment, moving beyond reliance on the state budget. Additionally, the city has called for improved data quality to better monitor and evaluate progress toward these sustainability targets.
