Hanoi launches Pickleball at 2026 Summer Sports Games and Family Tournament

The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports added pickleball to its annual Summer Sports Games for the first time in 2026. The multi‑sport event ran from July 1 to 8 across ten venues, drawing more than 8,000 athletes in 18 disciplines. Pickleball competitions were held at the Hanoi Athletics Stadium from July 4‑8 for participants aged 12‑18, following USA Pickleball rules, and are expected to become a popular draw alongside football.

A separate family‑focused pickleball tournament was staged on June 28, 2026 in Hanoi, sponsored by FPT Polytechnic. The one‑day event brought together government officials, business leaders, KOLs and families to promote community bonding and healthy lifestyles. Organisers highlighted the sport’s suitability for couples and families, noting its role in fostering teamwork and well‑being.

Both events reflect a broader push by Hanoi authorities and local institutions to expand recreational sport options, encourage youth participation, and strengthen social cohesion through emerging activities such as pickleball.
