Hanoi Medical University Hospital installs Southeast Asia’s first 5T MRI system

Hanoi Medical University Hospital (HMUH) has officially inaugurated the uMR Jupiter, the first whole-body clinical 5T MRI system in the Asia-Pacific region outside of China. The installation marks a significant technological milestone for the healthcare sector in Vietnam.

The 5T MRI technology utilizes a powerful magnetic field to provide a higher signal-to-noise ratio and superior tissue contrast compared to standard 1.5T or 3T scanners. This allows for more precise visualization of subtle lesions, vascular structures, and complex anatomical details across the brain, nervous system, cardiovascular system, and musculoskeletal system.

In conjunction with the equipment launch, United Imaging Healthcare and HMUH have established a 5T MRI Research Center of Excellence and an AI-Powered Clinical Research Center of Excellence. These centers aim to serve as regional platforms for medical education, scientific research, and clinical applications of ultra-high-field MRI.
