Vietnam medical experts report rise in health issues among young adults

Medical professionals in Vietnam are reporting a concerning rise in serious health conditions among young adults. Doctors at Hanoi Medical University Hospital have noted an increasing frequency of myocardial infarctions in patients under 30, including a 22-year-old who suffered damage to three coronary artery branches. Experts suggest that in these younger demographics, traditional atherosclerosis may not be the primary cause; instead, factors such as spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD), extreme emotional stress, excessive physical exertion, smoking, and the use of stimulants or energy drinks play significant roles.

Other notable medical cases include a 20-year-old male diagnosed with gout due to high uric acid levels and a family history of the condition, and an 18-year-old who experienced prolonged nosebleeds caused by a leech in the nasal cavity. Additionally, a 37-year-old patient initially misdiagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer in Cambodia was found by Vietnamese doctors to have a large pancreatic pseudocyst, avoiding a highly invasive Whipple procedure.
