Hanoi pilots new community cultural and sports center models

Hanoi is piloting new models for grassroots cultural and sports institutions to enhance community engagement and improve the quality of local life. The initiative follows a city-wide plan to innovate how cultural institutions operate across different urban and rural settings.

The first model was launched in Van Diem village, Phu Xuyen district, which serves as a representative for central communes with established facilities. This model integrates traditional values by linking community activities with the local Van Diem traditional woodworking craft. It features diverse amenities, including a children's reading room, a digital community room, martial arts areas, and spaces for elderly wellness and children's play.

A second model was introduced in the Xuan La 2 residential group within Xuan Dinh ward, representing urban areas undergoing rapid development. This model utilizes the local cultural house and adjacent public spaces to host various clubs, such as Zumba, folk dance, table tennis, and badminton. It also provides spaces for reading, information lookup, and support for online public services. These efforts aim to foster community connection and preserve traditional arts, such as Ca tru performances, while adapting to high-density urban living.
