Vietnam police dismantle multiple criminal networks in Hải Phòng and Hanoi

Police in Hải Phòng have opened a criminal case against 46‑year‑old Nguyễn Thị Thanh Hoàn for providing a loan of about 850 million VND at an annual interest rate of 109.5 %. The borrower, Đ. T. T. H, now owes roughly 1.515 trillion VND, and the investigation was formalised on 16 June 2026.

Separately, Hải Phòng authorities arrested three men – Lương Đình Quý, Lê Văn Chi and Phú Văn Sáng – for stealing components of four stone bridge spans at Đồng Tràng. The theft, valued at about 200 million VND, was uncovered on 16 June and all stolen parts were recovered and handed back to the community on 24 June.

In Hanoi, a major crackdown on football‑betting syndicates took place during the 2026 World Cup. Police detained Trần Trung Hiếu and three associates, accusing them of organising betting operations that moved tens of billions of đồng. Another Hanoi‑based operation led to the detention of six suspects, including Nguyễn Anh Duy (born 2000), who handled more than 1 billion VND per day, bringing the total illicit betting volume to several tens of billions of đồng.

A Hanoi court also sentenced seven defendants to prison terms ranging from seven to fourteen years for organising a kidney‑selling network. Led by Phạm Văn Hùng, the group profited nearly 2 billion VND from six illicit transplants between late 2024 and early 2025.
