Hanoi Police conclude investigation into Nguyen Sy Cuong traffic accident

Authorities in Hanoi have concluded the investigation into a May 2025 traffic accident on Nguyen Huy Tu Street involving Nguyen Sy Cuong, former Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the 14th National Assembly. The accident resulted in the death of a young girl and injuries to her father.

According to Colonel Nguyen Duc Long, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Police, the investigation determined that Nguyen Sy Cuong violated road traffic regulations by driving in the wrong lane, an offense under Clause 1, Article 260 of the Penal Code. Testing confirmed no alcohol was present in his system.

Officials stated that Nguyen Sy Cuong confessed to his actions and worked to rectify the consequences. The victim's family acknowledged these efforts and submitted a request for exemption from criminal prosecution, asking authorities to conclude the matter so the family can stabilize their lives.
