A 17-year-old 12th-grade student, identified as L. H. V., has been arrested and detained following an assault on his mathematics teacher at Mac Dinh Chi High School in Hanoi. The incident occurred on the morning of October 19, 2026, during a lesson where the teacher had requested several students, including V., to stand at the side of the podium because they had not completed their homework.

According to police reports, the student reacted with anger, lunging at the teacher and striking her in the head and face. The victim, Ms. L. T. H., sustained a nasal fracture and other injuries, resulting in a 12% health impairment rating as determined by the Hanoi Forensic Center. She was treated at Lac Viet Hospital and later transferred to Bach Mai Hospital; her condition is currently reported as stable.

The Hanoi Municipal Police have officially initiated criminal proceedings, charging the student with “intentionally causing injury” under Clause 2, Article 134 of the Penal Code. The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has directed the school to enhance safety measures and psychological counseling to prevent future school violence. The school and the student's family are cooperating with authorities in the ongoing investigation.
