Hanoi police detain suspect in fatal driver attack

Hanoi police have detained Nguyen Quy Hoan (born 1979) on suspicion of murder following a fatal attack on a driver on Bac Cau Street.

According to investigators, the incident occurred on the afternoon of October 20. Hoan, motivated by jealousy regarding his ex-wife, allegedly pursued the victim, Mr. N. B. D., after spotting him driving a car. The suspect initially used a hammer to smash the vehicle's window and engaged in a physical altercation with the driver.

Following the initial confrontation, Hoan reportedly retrieved a knife from a nearby pork vendor and returned to the scene, where he fatally stabbed the victim. The victim sustained multiple wounds to the chest, abdomen, and legs. Hoan surrendered to the Hanoi Criminal Police late on the same day following police persuasion.
