Hanoi Police dismantle nationwide fake diploma ring

Hanoi police have dismantled a large-scale criminal network involved in the production and sale of approximately 1,500 counterfeit diplomas and certificates. Operating since early 2024, the group utilized social media and various advertising websites to market their services across Vietnam.

Authorities have prosecuted 10 individuals, including two university lecturers, Đỗ Hạnh Dung and Trần Thị Thoa, who allegedly collaborated with the ring to provide fake credentials to students. The ring was led by Hoàng Văn Đạt and Trần Anh Hào, who coordinated the purchase of specialized machinery and counterfeit seals from various schools and notary offices.

During coordinated raids in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Lang Son, and Quang Ninh, officers seized hundreds of counterfeit seals, blank diploma templates, and specialized printing equipment. The investigation revealed the group earned nearly 3 billion VND in illicit profits, selling individual fake documents for between 1 million and 2 million VND.
