Hanoi police investigate house demolition payment dispute

Hanoi police have launched an investigation into a dispute regarding payment for house demolition services in Tuong Mai Ward. The incident, which gained significant attention on social media, involves a conflict between a contractor and a property owner.

A video circulating online shows a woman representing the demolition unit demanding payment after a two-story house was completely demolished. The contractor claims she was hired by a tenant and has records of their communication. Conversely, the property owner asserts that he did not authorize the work, stating there was no signed contract and that the demolition was performed without his consent.

According to reports, the tenant's family had previously transferred 20 million VND to the contractor. The dispute escalated after the demolition was completed and debris was cleared. Local authorities are currently verifying the details of the contract and the legality of the demolition process.
