Hanoi Police penalize YouTuber for spreading false Grab strike rumors

Hanoi Police have issued an administrative penalty to a YouTuber, identified as D.X.H. (born 1996), for posting unverified content claiming that Grab drivers were calling for a mass shutdown of the application.

The individual admitted to posting the content to increase social media engagement and interaction. Investigations by the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Division revealed that various accounts on Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube had shared sensationalist claims such as “Grab drivers simultaneously turn off apps,” “strike,” or “Grab paralyzed” during September 12 and 13.

Grab Vietnam confirmed that the company issued no such instructions and that service operations and driver partner activities remained stable during that period. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid sharing or commenting on unverified information regarding service disruptions.
