Hanoi police prosecute individual for producing 19 tons of counterfeit confectionery

Hanoi police have prosecuted Nguyen Quang Dat for the production and trade of counterfeit food products. Authorities discovered that Dat operated multiple production and business locations in An Khanh commune to manufacture and package confectionery and beverages.

Investigations revealed that Dat purchased raw materials and semi-finished products from various sources, including Hai Duong, Lang Son, Lao Cai, and La Phu. He then used self-designed packaging and foreign barcodes to falsely claim the products originated from South Korea, Japan, Thailand, and Indonesia, despite being produced and packaged in Vietnam.

During inspections of five locations, law enforcement seized approximately 19.3 to 19.7 tons of finished goods, valued at over 1.12 billion VND. Authorities also confiscated hundreds of boxes of raw materials, machinery, packaging, and electronic data related to the operation.
