Hanoi police prosecute seven youths for sword attack on stranger

Hanoi police have prosecuted seven youths, aged 17 to 19, for public disorder and intentional injury following a violent attack in the city. The group, which included individuals already serving suspended sentences for previous public disorder offenses, used a 1-meter Japanese sword and a homemade blade to attack a stranger.

On the night of July 8, the group traveled through various areas, including Duong Noi and near My Dinh Stadium, riding motorcycles without helmets and driving recklessly. At approximately 2:10 a.m. on July 9, the group chased a motorcyclist they did not know on Nguyen Thanh Binh Street. After the victim fell from his bike, two members of the group used swords to strike the victim multiple times, causing severe injuries to his wrists, hands, arms, and legs, and damaging his motorcycle.

The suspects have been identified as Trinh Dinh Dung, Nguyen Trong Manh, Nguyen Tuan Kiet, Nguyen Dinh Khang, Nguyen Cong Dai, Vu Ha An, and Nguyen Trong Tang. Authorities have seized the weapons and motorcycles used in the incident.
