Hanoi police target rising cybercrime and student safety

Authorities in Hanoi are intensifying efforts to combat the rise of cybercrime and educate the public on digital safety. The Hanoi Police recently held a conference led by Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung to discuss solutions for improving the effectiveness of fighting lawbreakers in cyberspace.

Officials noted that criminals are increasingly utilizing social media, messaging apps, and online platforms to coordinate illegal activities, including drug trafficking, fraudulent investment schemes, and the sale of counterfeit goods. These crimes are becoming more professionalized, often involving anonymous actors who may operate across different countries.

In a related local initiative, the Duong Noi Ward Police conducted a legal awareness session for over 4,000 students at Phenikaa University. The session focused on preventing criminal involvement among youth, specifically advising students to follow a ‘3 No’ principle: no participation in negative groups or public disturbances, no use of drugs or e-cigarettes, and no lending bank accounts or participating in online gambling.
