Hanoi police warn of electric vehicle charging fire risks
Hanoi Fire Prevention and Rescue Police have issued warnings regarding the fire and explosion risks associated with improper charging habits for electric vehicles, including electric motorcycles, bicycles, and cars.
Authorities advise against common dangerous practices such as charging vehicles immediately after use, leaving vehicles to charge overnight without supervision, or using incompatible chargers. Using degraded wiring or unauthorized modifications to batteries and accumulators to increase power or range also significantly increases the risk of electrical incidents.
To ensure safety, residents are encouraged to use vehicles from reputable manufacturers and strictly follow manufacturer instructions. It is critical to use compatible chargers and ensure a stable power supply with safe wiring and outlets. Users should immediately stop charging and seek inspection if they notice signs of malfunction, such as excessive heat, swelling, cracking, deformation, unusual odors, or charred wiring.
