Hanoi provides free health screenings to 1.7 million residents
Hanoi has provided free health screenings to nearly 1.7 million residents as of August 26, 2026. According to Vu Cao Cuong, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Health, the city has successfully updated 565,242 health records on the Ministry of Health portal, ranking first in the country.
The program aims to provide periodic health check-ups or free screenings at least once a year for all residents, integrated with the development of electronic health records. The initiative seeks to facilitate early disease detection, prevention, and management to reduce the overall medical burden and costs. Hanoi aims to achieve 100% coverage for periodic screenings and electronic record creation for its population by 2026.
The rollout includes specific schedules, such as health checks for preschool and primary/secondary students between August 20 and September 4, 2026. Further screenings for registered residents are scheduled from October through November. Eligible participants include permanent or temporary residents of Hanoi with a residency of at least 12 months, verified via the VNeID system.
