Hanoi ranks seventh in global street‑food survey, ahead of Bangkok

The 2026 Time Out street‑food ranking, based on a survey of about 24,000 residents worldwide, placed Hanoi at 57% approval, securing the seventh spot globally. This puts the Vietnamese capital above Bangkok (56%) and Mumbai (55%).

Ho Chi Minh City led the list with 63%, followed by Kuala Lumpur (62%), Jakarta and Taipei (both 59%), and Mexico City and Manila (58%). Vietnam became the only country with two cities in the top‑10, as Ho Chi Minh City holds the top position while Hanoi ranks seventh.

The ranking highlights Hanoi’s vibrant street‑food scene, featuring iconic dishes such as phở and bún chả served from stalls and low‑seated eateries throughout the historic Old Quarter.
