Hanoi mobilizes over 77 billion VND for Poor People Fund

Hanoi authorities and the Vietnam Fatherland Front organized the ‘Joining Hands for the Poor and Social Security 2026’ program on October 26. The event honored organizations and businesses for their significant contributions to social welfare in the capital.

During the program, a total of 77.2 billion VND was contributed or pledged by 160 collectives, enterprises, and philanthropists to the city’s Poor People Fund. This follows a period of successful mobilization where the city-level fund received over 116 billion VND and commune-level funds received over 126 billion VND since 2025.

These resources have been utilized to construct 1,325 Great Unity houses, provide livelihoods and transportation tools, support medical treatment, and offer scholarships to families in difficult circumstances. Notably, Hanoi has reached a milestone where it no longer has households classified as poor under the central government’s multidimensional poverty standards.
