Hanoi reduces school network and management staff following reorganization

Hanoi has implemented a major reorganization of its school network, resulting in a significant reduction in both educational institutions and management personnel. The number of preschools and general education schools under commune-level management dropped from 2,163 to 938, a decrease of 56.6%.

This restructuring led to a 42.74% reduction in management staff, with 2,366 positions—including principals and vice-principals—being eliminated. The new network includes 42 high-quality schools and 895 multi-campus or multi-level schools. Specifically, preschools decreased from 817 to 326, primary schools from 731 to 298, and secondary schools from 612 to 226.

In other regions, such as Hanh Phuc commune and Nghia Lo ward, similar administrative adjustments are underway. These local efforts involve merging existing schools to form new entities and appointing new leadership to manage the consolidated institutions.
