Hanoi restricts Red River waterway traffic for scheduled drill

The Hanoi Department of Construction has announced temporary restrictions on inland waterway traffic on the Red River to facilitate a scheduled drill. The restrictions will apply to the section between Km239 and Km245, covering areas including Quang Oai, Vat Lai, and Minh Chau communes in the Ba Vi district.

From 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM on August 27, 2026, all inland waterway vessels are prohibited from navigating or anchoring in the specified zone, with the exception of vehicles directly involved in the drill. All ports, inland waterway wharves, and river ferry terminals within this stretch must suspend operations and refrain from mooring vessels during this period.

Local authorities, including the Capital Command and the Hanoi Traffic Police, have been tasked with managing traffic flow and providing guidance to ensure safety. Coordination is also requested with the Vietnam Maritime and Inland Waterways Administration and relevant authorities in Phu Tho province to manage the impact on regional navigation.
