Hanoi reviews management of cultural and sports facilities

The Hanoi People's Council held a briefing session to address the investment, management, and operational efficiency of the city's cultural and sports institutions. The session focused on ensuring that the development of these facilities aligns with urban planning and the actual needs of the population.

Officials emphasized that efficiency must be calculated from the moment an investment decision is made, rather than only after a project is completed. This includes planning for long-term management, human resources, and operational costs to prevent the construction of high-quality facilities that remain underutilized.

With the implementation of a two-level local government model starting July 1, 2025, the city faces new challenges in managing assets and defining responsibilities. Currently, Hanoi possesses 4,715 cultural and sports facilities, including 4,481 located at the village and residential group levels. The council aims to refine management models for large-scale facilities transferred to commune and ward levels to ensure they serve a broader community scope while maintaining strict control over public assets.
