Hanoi to incorporate 4,000 hectares from Phu Tho province

Hanoi authorities are conducting a public consultation from October 22 to 25, 2026, regarding a proposal to adjust administrative boundaries between Hanoi and Phu Tho province. The plan involves transferring 4,006.38 hectares of natural area from Phu Tho to Hanoi.

The adjustment includes 2,529.38 hectares within Ba Vi National Park and 1,477 hectares of its buffer zone. The affected areas in Phu Tho comprise Thinh Minh, Luong Son, and Ky Son, which are proposed to be integrated into the Ba Vi and Yen Xuan communes of Hanoi.

This move aims to unify the management of Ba Vi National Park, which was transferred to Hanoi's management in June 2026, and to enhance regional connectivity within the capital area. If approved, Hanoi's total natural area is expected to increase from 335,984 hectares to approximately 339,990 hectares, a growth of about 1.19%. The adjustment will not change the number of provincial or communal administrative units, nor will it alter the names or administrative centers of the involved communes.
