Hanoi Social Insurance warns of health insurance scams
Hanoi Social Insurance has issued an urgent warning regarding scammers impersonating social insurance officials. These individuals contact citizens claiming their health insurance cards are "faulty," "expired," or "require data updates," or that they must switch to new physical or electronic identity cards.
Scammers use these tactics to trick victims into clicking suspicious links or transferring fees. The agency emphasized that they do not request money transfers or any fees over the phone to issue physical or electronic health insurance cards.
To verify insurance status, citizens are advised to use official channels, such as the Vietnam Social Security web portal, the 1900.9068 hotline, or official social media accounts. For medical examinations, valid identification includes the VNeID app, the VssID application, or physical health insurance cards.
