Hanoi Social Insurance warns pensioners of phone‑fraud scams

The Hanoi Administrative Service Center for Social Insurance issued a public warning after scammers impersonated centre staff and called retirees receiving pension or social‑insurance benefits. The fraudsters asked victims to visit local People's Committees, submit additional documents, install unauthorized applications, or provide personal data such as ID numbers, bank details, and OTP codes, claiming these were needed to complete a new authorization document under the 2024 Social Insurance Law.

Authorities clarified that only people identified in the current high‑intensity verification campaign (Plan 271/KH‑UBND dated 10 July 2026) will be contacted through approved channels. The official procedure for obtaining a queue number is the iHanoi application, and no other app should be installed. There is no request for money transfers, personal identification numbers, or login credentials. Recipients are urged not to comply with any unsolicited calls and to report suspicious activity.
