Hanoi releases list of 15 top scorers in 2026‑27 specialist high‑school admissions

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced the 2026‑27 specialist high‑school entrance results, naming 15 top‑scoring students (a “thủ khoa”) out of 16 specialised classes. Nguyen Hai Nam of Hanoi‑Amsterdam high school led the list with 47.75 points in the Mathematics stream, while a record‑setting female student, Tran Thuc Anh of Trưng Vương secondary school, topped both the Japanese and Chinese language streams with 47.00 points each. Three students shared the highest score (47.25) in the Physics stream. Overall, about 124 000 candidates sat the exam, and more than 80 % (102 243) secured places in public upper‑secondary schools, reflecting expanded enrollment capacity. The results highlight the dominance of Hanoi‑Amsterdam high school, which produced 11 of the 15 top performers, and underscore the intense competition for specialised education in the capital.
