After an extensive search, authorities located the student's body more than 1 km away at a drain outlet leading to the Nhue River on the morning of September 18. University leadership has visited the student's family in Ninh Binh province to express condolences, noting that the student came from a disadvantaged background.

Legal experts are calling for an investigation into the responsibility of the authorities managing the city's drainage system. Lawyers emphasize that the lack of a drain cover and the failure to provide warnings or barriers in flooded areas constitute a significant safety risk, suggesting that the managing entity must be held accountable for maintaining safe infrastructure and preventing such accidents.
