Hanoi student rental market shifts toward modern amenities

The landscape of student rental housing in Hanoi is undergoing a significant transformation. Modern rental accommodations are increasingly moving away from the traditional model of cramped, basic rooms toward studio-style living. Many current listings feature amenities such as air conditioning, water heaters, refrigerators, washing machines, private kitchens, elevators, and fingerprint locks.

Rental prices vary by type, with standard student rooms ranging from 1.5 to 3.5 million VND per month, while mini-apartment complexes can cost between 4.5 and 8 million VND. While these amenities offer improved privacy and quality of life, they present new financial challenges. Students must now balance higher rent, electricity, water, and service fees against their monthly incomes, with some spending up to 45% of their total budget on housing.
