Hanoi targets 100% sports facility coverage in schools by 2030

Hanoi has set a target for 100% of schools in its general education system to possess dedicated sports facilities by 2030. This initiative aims to transition from mandatory physical education classes to a continuous environment for student movement and extracurricular activities, such as swimming pools and multi-purpose training halls.

Phung Hung High School in Soc Son, Hanoi, is currently implementing these standards. Under the leadership of Principal Le Trung Kien, the school has invested in a gym-kid area, pickleball courts, badminton courts, and basketball areas. The school is also constructing an 800 square meter multi-purpose hall capable of accommodating 450 students for exercise or over 1,000 people for events, alongside a futsal pitch expected to be operational by the first semester of the 2026–2027 academic year.
