Hanoi Tax Authority Releases List of Inactive Businesses, Calls for Tax Code Self‑Audit

The Hanoi tax department publicly disclosed that 58,153 taxpayers have tax codes marked as inactive (status 03) but have not completed the termination process, and another 92,308 taxpayers are listed as not operating at their registered address (status 06). Nationwide, over 600,000 enterprises are under tax‑code scrutiny, with 291,962 firms inactive without liquidation and 325,500 firms at inactive addresses carrying tax arrears.

The authority urged all listed businesses, households and individual taxpayers to review their tax‑code status, update registration details, and complete any pending termination or compliance procedures. Deputy Head Nguyen Tiến Minh highlighted the city’s extensive outreach: dozens of support teams, thousands of training sessions, and campaigns such as “60 days to switch from levy to declaration” and “45 days to clean taxpayer data”. The department also reported that 98% of households now have electronic tax accounts and that electronic filing compliance is near universal, aiming to improve transparency and curb fraud.
